ProTee VX + GSPro at FlexTee: What the Simulator Actually Tracks (and How to Use It in a 60-Minute Session)
June 2026 • FlexTee
If you've ever finished a simulator session thinking, “That was fun… but what do all those numbers mean?” — you're not alone.
This guide is for everyday golfers (beginners through to low handicappers) who want a simple explanation of what FlexTee's setup tracks — and how to turn those stats into real improvement, without getting lost in data.
At FlexTee we use the ProTee VX launch monitor with GSPro software. The best bit? You can use it two ways:
- Play (courses, games, pressure practice)
- Practise (repeatable sessions with feedback you can trust)
The 3 numbers that matter most (for most golfers)
You'll see loads of metrics, but if you only focus on three, make them these.
Carry distance (not total)
Carry is the most reliable number for gapping your clubs and planning shots. Use it for:
- Building a wedge chart
- Knowing your "stock" 7-iron carry
- Choosing smarter targets on the course
Start direction (where the ball begins)
Start direction tells you a lot about face control and your intended line. Use it for:
- Tightening dispersion
- Aiming properly (especially with driver)
- Reducing "two-way misses"
Dispersion (your shot pattern)
One great shot is nice. A tighter pattern is what lowers scores. Use it for:
- Choosing a reliable tee club
- Picking safer targets
- Measuring progress week to week
The numbers people overthink (and what to do instead)
Some metrics are useful, but they can become noise if you're not careful.
Club speed
Great to know, but speed without strike and face control often just means bigger misses.
Better focus: Strike quality + start direction first.
Spin
Spin matters — but it varies with strike, ball, and club. If you’re not consistent yet, treat it as a “trend” rather than a verdict.
Better focus: Carry + dispersion, then refine spin later.
Smash factor
Useful, but it’s not a scorecard. If you’re chasing smash, you can start swinging out of your shoes.
Better focus: Centred contact and repeatable tempo.
A simple 60-minute ProTee VX session plan (no guesswork)
This is a brilliant “default” session you can repeat every couple of weeks.
Warm-up (don't skip this)
- Easy wedges and short irons
- Smooth swings
- Goal: solid contact
Build one reliable stock yardage
Pick one club (7-iron is ideal).
- Hit 12–15 shots
- Ignore your best and worst
- Note your typical carry and typical miss
Track: carry + start direction
Tighten dispersion with a “fairway finder”
Pick driver or 3-wood.
- Choose a target line
- Hit 10–12 shots
- Your goal is not max distance — it’s a tighter pattern
Track: start direction + dispersion
Make it golf (pressure practice)
Finish with something that feels like the course:
- Play 3 holes on GSPro, or
- Alternate clubs (e.g., driver then 7-iron), or
- “One ball challenge”: each shot counts
Track: your routine + commitment (not perfection)
How to get the most out of GSPro (even if you're not techy)
GSPro is brilliant because it makes practice feel like golf. Try one of these:
- Play 6 holes and replay any shot you’d like to learn from
- Use a range session for gapping (carry distances)
- Use a course for pressure and decision-making
What to do when you arrive
When you arrive, you'll enter using your booking instructions/access details, head to your assigned bay, and get set up. If you want help choosing a mode (practice vs play) or what to track, guidance is available — especially if it's your first time using the numbers.
Want a session that actually improves your golf (not just an hour of swings)?
Book a bay and try the 60-minute plan above.
If you'll practise regularly, membership gives you 24/7 access.
